Kaiyukan Aquarium

Kaiyukan is one of the world's largest and most spectacular aquariums, built around a dramatic 9-metre-deep central tank that recreates the Pacific Ocean and houses whale sharks, manta rays, and thousands of other marine species. The visitor path spirals downward around this towering tank over eight floors, offering ever-changing perspectives from surface to deep sea.

The journey begins with a walk through a glass tunnel beneath a tropical rainforest canopy, then descends through themed zones representing the Pacific Rim — from the kelp forests of Monterey Bay to the icy waters of Antarctica. The hands-on touch pool at the end lets visitors gently stroke sharks and rays. Evening visits (after 5 PM) offer a quieter, more atmospheric experience with special lighting.
